My work investigates the experiential in/of interior space.
It explores and exposes the body-space relationship through the materiality, form, tension and light of a space and of the arranged materials and objects within.
The making process is often intuitive, an automatic, raw response to a given space; a metaphorical and poetic result ensues. Unprecedented events will often determine the evolution and finalisation of work.
The experimental spatial transformations are photographed or/and filmed. This documentation becomes work in itself, it is used as a material for reflective practice, informing further experiments.
Preferred spatial working contexts are old industrial environments of which the original purpose has become obsolete. This provides a freedom of play in form, content and scale and the activation of a dead space.
Currently, I am interested in extending the relationship between installation art and architecture through developing the architectural content of my own work. It explores and utilises theories and phylosophies upon the perception and constructed meaning of space in relation to human senses.
